I am always on the look out for any new online art classes that I can take. I have been looking for a website that shows you how to draw pictures for a picture book. I think I finally found one that I really like. It is on Craftsy. At first, I wasn't too impressed with what they had because there were only two picture book classes, and those are on the intermediate skill level. I have been looking for something that is a bit more on the beginner side of things.
I went back to the webpage recently, and found that they now offer five different picture book classes. Creating Expressive Picture Book Characters with Lynn Chapman really interested me since it is on a beginner level. I have seen a number of her videos on you-tube, so I have been familiar with her and her work.
When I saw this class, and who was teaching it, I had to enroll. It is at the beginner level of drawing which is where I feel I am especially when it comes to drawing people, or really any characters. I don't usually draw people because I really don't know how to draw even the cartoon people I see in some picture books, but that is what I am learning to draw now.
I think this class is a really good one if you are just starting out, and you want to learn to do things in a basic way. I might try to do something a little more advanced later on, but right now, this is the best thing for me to do artistically.
Eventually, waht I would like to do is write and publish my own pictue books on Story Jumper
