I sort of put the picture e-book on the back burner for now because I don't have a story, and without a story, there isn't anything to illustrate. I need some time to work on it. So, to help me get back to being creative again, I decided to take a break from cartooning, and
I wish could say I have gotten a lot done, but the truth is I am having trouble getting anything done because of my job. I really hate working more hours because I don't have time to do the things that matter to me. If the new superintendent of our school district hadn't made it a requirement that all classified staff has to work at least seven hours a day, then my life would be going a lot smoother.
I really liked working six hours a day because that gave me more time to get things done like running errands after work, and I wasn't so tired at the end of the day that I couldn't do any drawing. On the days that I came right home, I usually sat down and got some drawing done in the afternoons, but now that I have more responsibilities at work, I am much more tired at the end of the day. It's bad enough that I have to wait until late in the day to do any art work, but to be even more tired is making it worse. When I wake up in the morning, I sometimes have ideas for children's books, or an idea for something that I am working on, and I would love to get right to it early in the day, but I have to go to work, and that changes my head space. Like I said, having to wait so late in the day to work on my art is bad. By this time of the day, I am tired, and exhausted. And what makes this blog entry so stupid is that instead of sitting here writing about how my time is taken up by things I have to do instead of the things I want to do, I probably could have done some sketchbook entries. Maybe the best way to handle this is to do the sketchbook work as I have time in a day, and post only on the weekends when I have time. Maybe save the bigger projects for the weekends too, and then post those then. No matter what I decide to do, it is going to be very slow going because of my job, and the schedule I have to keep. I haven't been able to do much this past week because my router gave out on me. Suddenly, I had no internet, and I couldn't come back to my art work on the computer. I had to get a new modem with a built in router
